The Pendulum Putting Rod is the best training aid to groove a fundamentally sound putting stroke. As a PGA Golf Professional, short game skills and putting is the one area that I always talk about to my students. I have often had players use a belly putter to get the feel of a correct stroke but they lose the feel going to their putter.
